Technical Sales & Application Engineer (Jakarta/Indonesia Based) – Industrial Lubricants & Specialty
Talent Hunts Indonesia is an Executive Search Agency based in Jakarta, currently working with an expanding specialist industrial lubricant business supported by an established global manufacturing and technical R&D hub in China, who are looking for a highly driven Technical Sales & Application Engineer. Operating as a core member of the founding commercial team in Indonesia, this role combines hands-on application engineering with direct commercial accountability. The position is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing high-value B2B accounts across heavy industries—including aluminum, steel, mining, metalworking, automotive components, and general manufacturing—delivering application-driven solutions, technical trials, and repeat commercial growth.
Responsibilities:
B2B Account Development & Sales Execution: Identify, prospect, and convert high-potential industrial accounts across target sectors (aluminum, steel, mining, automotive components, machinery, and metalworking); drive full sales cycles from quotation and price negotiation to order fulfillment and payment collection.
Technical & Application Engineering: Conduct site surveys, equipment assessments, and lubricant usage reviews; recommend tailored specialty lubricants, metalworking fluids, and rolling oils; lead on-site product trials through to technical sign-off and commercial conversion.
Stakeholder Relationship Building: Establish credibility with plant managers, maintenance engineers, production teams, and procurement directors to communicate total cost of ownership (TCO) advantages and solve complex operational challenges.
Cross-Border Technical Alignment: Coordinate closely with the China headquarters R&D and technical support teams for specialized product formulations, complex application troubleshooting, and custom engineering support.
Commercial Pipeline Governance: Maintain active tracking of sales pipelines, gross-profit margins, and receivables; protect pricing discipline while driving repeat commercial orders and long-term customer trust.
Field Mobility & Account Management: Travel regularly to customer operating sites, plants, and manufacturing facilities nationwide to perform technical follow-ups and monitor lubricant performance.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Materials Science) or a related technical/business discipline.
Approximately 6–12 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years of direct exposure to technical sales, industrial sales, or application engineering in a B2B setting.
Preferred Industry Experience: Strong background in Industrial Lubricants, Metalworking Fluids, Rolling Oils, Specialty Chemicals, Bearings, Hydraulics, Compressors, or Heavy Machinery. Candidates from end-user sectors (steel, aluminum, mining, automotive manufacturing) with strong lubricant application knowledge and commercial capability are also encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated track record in managing commercial negotiations, technical proposals, account conversion, and margin control.
Language Skills: Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and proficient in English (written and spoken). Spoken Mandarin Chinese is a distinct advantage for seamless collaboration with China HQ technical teams.
