Legal Section Head (South Jakarta Based) - Coal Mining Industry
Talent Hunts Indonesia is an Executive Search Agency based in Jakarta, currently working with a prominent Coal Mining company in South Jakarta, who are looking for talent for Legal Section Head. This role will be responsible for leading and overseeing the company’s comprehensive legal operations, ensuring strict regulatory compliance, and managing the entire contract lifecycle within the mining sector. This role plays a critical part in providing both tactical and strategic legal advisory to senior management and the Board of Directors, while serving as a bridge between field operations and corporate legal strategy. The position requires a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in coal mining regulations, commercial contract drafting, and dispute resolution.
Job Description:
- Legal Operations Oversight: Lead day-to-day legal activities and ensure full compliance with applicable laws, government regulations, internal SOPs, and company policies.
- Contract Management: Manage the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex bilingual (Bahasa Indonesia & English) agreements such as mining, hauling, barging, shipping, EPC, and supply agreements.
- Strategic Advisory: Provide high-level tactical and strategic legal advice to management and the Board of Directors to support business growth and mitigate risks.
- Licensing & Permits: Monitor and proactively manage all mining-related licenses and permits to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Dispute Resolution: Handle both litigation and non-litigation disputes, representing the company’s interests in legal proceedings or settlements.
- Compliance Framework: Conduct deep-dive compliance analysis on evolving laws and support the implementation of robust corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and refinement of internal legal policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (S.H.) from a reputable university.
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in legal roles, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or senior management position.
- Minimum 8 years of specific experience in the Coal Mining industry.
- Expert-level experience in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts related to mining operations (hauling, barging, EPC, etc.) in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Proven track record in handling mining permits and regulatory compliance within the Indonesian legal landscape.
- Strong experience in dispute resolution (litigation & non-litigation).
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate legal complexities into operational actions.
- Willing to be based in South Jakarta.
