Factory Manager - Automotive Industry
The factory Operations Head will lead factory setup and end-to-end production process which covers: production strategy, production planning & control, production/assembly line, and quality control. This role is responsible for operating the production line and ensuring it meets target delivery for quantity and quality standards.
Job Descriptions:
Factory setup
- Assesses potential factory location and setup strategy (buy/rent/acquire)
- Plan production strategy and layout
- Define requirements of building facilities and ME
- Recruit and train blue-collar labor
- Works with cross-functional teams to ensure overall factory setup runs smoothly and meets requirements
Production preparation
- Leads production engineering to assess the feasibility of product manufacturability
- Gives guidelines to the R&D team to fulfill manufacturing requirements
- Enables plants and facilities to produce products
- Ensure flawless and efficient 2-wheeler assembly and the design and installation of the production tooling
- Interface to styling and R&D departments to conduct a product feasibility study and approve product design from a manufacturing engineer perspective
- Provides input to the system selection process for product development
- Develops formal assembly process instructions
- Virtual & physical verification of product manufacturability and process compatibility
- Refines cost and confirms manufacturing requirements with R&D
Factory operations and quality control
- Controls and tracks entire quality (program, product, and supplier quality)
- Works with cross-functional teams to ensure the program meets the requirements and passes the gates smoothly
- Tracks progress of issue resolving status according to an agreed plan
- Defines and develop critical quality standards that address customer wants and needs
- Ensure preparation to achieve standard accreditation for quality and environmental management
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience
- Prior experience in manufacturing/assembly and quality control of Automotive OEM company or Tier 1 supplier company built to print parts (such as: casting, welding, forging, machining, and sheet metal) that relate directly to Automotive OEM.
- Prior experience in developing and implementing a standard of quality management systems (ISO 9001)
- Ability to develop and foster strong stakeholder relationships
- Ability to identify potential risks and plan to mitigate them
- Hands-on experience in working with multiple cross-functional teams (CFT)
- Experience in project management
- Prior experience in developing new product
- Prior experience in setting up new factory facilities and processes is a plus
